Do Dental Implants Stain?

One of the key benefits of dental implants is that you don’t have to worry about getting cavities. You still need to care for them like real teeth though, of course, brushing and flossing twice a day.

But what about staining?

Staining can happen if the glazed finish on your implants wears off for some reason. It is a good idea to avoid toothpaste that contains ingredients such as silica or baking soda, as these can be abrasive to the implants. Even on natural teeth, overtime, there is a risk that they will strip your tooth enamel.

You could also have staining along your gumline, which is why it is important for to visit your dentist for regular dental cleanings so that they can clean and polish this area.

And also with natural teeth, you’ll be better off if you avoid certain food and drink such as red wine, coffee, tea, berries, and cola. Plus, it goes without saying that you should steer clear of smoking and chewing tobacco, not only for staining issues, but for your overall health and well-being.
