Corrective Jaw Surgery is required when the upper and lower jaw grow at different rates causing a variety off issues related to your bite, airway, facial appearance, and temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ).

Jaw surgery (Orthognathic Surgery) can benefit patients in many ways.  If you have one or more of the following conditions Orthognathic Surgery could be an option for you.

  • Difficulty chewing or biting food
  • Difficulty swallowing or speaking
  • Open Bite
  • Chronic jaw or jaw joint pain (TMJ) resulting in headaches
  • Grinding your teeth
  • Unbalanced facial appearance including a receding chin and protruding jaw
  • Facial Injury or congenital craniofacial anomalies from birth

Orthognathic Surgery is a one-to-two-year process involving pre- and post-operative orthodontic treatment to ensure your teeth align correctly before and after surgery.

Studies show a success rate of up to 90% for Sleep Apnea when treated with jaw surgery. For patients struggling with breathing issues, consulting a specialist for sleep apnea treatment can complement jaw surgery for the best results.

Why Should You Consider
Corrective Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery)?

Orthodontics corrects the patient’s bite or occlusion when only the teeth are misaligned. To correct the misalignment of the jaw, orthognathic surgery may be necessary to reposition the jaws, adjust, and correct an unbalanced facial appearance.

In some cases, patients with severe injuries or fractures may also require specialized facial trauma treatment to restore both function and appearance.
