The place is very clean, professional and welcoming. From the first time I stopped to make and appointment till my service was completed I was met by friendly, helpful and caring staff. This attitude by staff made the procedure less threatening. The follow up procedure was incredible. The assistant was very warm, compassionate and explained everything I needed to do to look after myself. If anything appeared amiss to call immediately for help. I was called in the evening by the Doctor to see how I was and if I had any issues, how refreshing to have that happen. I was contacted the following 2 days to see how I was doing, if I had any issues or concerns. This was so greatly appreciated and a service 1 rarely gets in this age. Normally once ur out the door ur on ur own. But totally different here. A service that was grateful appreciated. Would I recommend coming here u bet without hesitation.Posted on Google![]()

Okay I hate needles, procedures and just anything that isn’t the norm. I told the surgeon my concern and right away he was able to put me at ease by walking me through what he was doing. It was so quick, so painless and stress free I walked out of there wondering if I should book something else with them! Long story but worth the time to write this review. Highly recommend this office!Posted on Google![]()

I entered the room with the assistant with some trepidation, got settled and then prepared for the pain (physical and emotional) of the extraction. I immediately felt at ease as soon as the assistant started chatting. Between her and Dr Bahi, the time went very quickly and painlessly with their banter. I received thorough instructions of the care of the site and I was on my way. I followed the instruction and had an easy night. I received a follow-up call the next morning to see how I was and if I had any questions. Thank you Dr Bahi and teamVerified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. What is Orthognathic Surgery?
Orthognathic surgery is known as corrective jaw surgery a specialized procedure that corrects significant issues in jaw alignment and facial structure. Unlike general orthodontic treatments that focus on teeth positioning like braces, orthognathic surgery involves carefully repositioning of jawbones. This is necessary when misalignments are skeletal meaning the problem lies in the growth and position of the jawbones rather than just teeth.
Individuals may need orthognathic surgery for multiple reasons:
- Jaw Misalignment: This can manifest as an overbite underbite or crossbite that cannot be corrected with orthodontics alone.
- Breathing Issues: A misaligned jaw can obstruct airways leading to conditions like obstructive sleep apnea which significantly impacts sleep quality and overall health.
- Difficulty with Chewing and Speaking: Improper jaw alignment can hinder efficient chewing causing digestive issues and can also affect speech clarity.
- TMJ Disorders: Chronic jaw pain and discomfort associated with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders can sometimes be alleviated through corrective jaw surgery.
The benefits of orthognathic surgery extend beyond addressing these functional problems. It also dramatically improves facial aesthetics leading to a more balanced and harmonious facial profile and boosting self-confidence.
Common Myths About Jaw Alignment Surgery
Despite its significant benefits jaw alignment surgery is often shrouded in misconceptions. Let’s debunk some common myths:
Myth #1: "The recovery process is quick and painless."
Reality: Orthognathic surgery is a major procedure and while advances in surgical techniques have improved recovery it’s not quick or entirely painless. Initial recovery typically takes 6 to 8 weeks with full healing of the jawbones taking between 9 and 12 months.
- Recovery Timeline: Expect significant swelling and discomfort in the first few days peaking within the first week. Most patients can return to work or school after three to four weeks but light activity only.
- Pain Management: Your surgeon will prescribe pain medication to manage discomfort. Ice packs and keeping your head elevated can help reduce swelling.
- Dietary Restrictions: You’ll be on a liquid or soft food diet for several weeks gradually transitioning back to a normal diet under your surgeon’s guidance.
Post-operative Orthodontics: You will likely continue wearing braces for 6 to 9 months after surgery to fine-tune your bite.
Myth #2: "Orthognathic surgery is only for cosmetic purposes."
Reality: While orthognathic surgery undeniably enhances facial aesthetics its primary purpose is often to address significant functional issues. As mentioned earlier it corrects problems related to:
- Breathing: By realigning the jaw it can open up airways and alleviate obstructive sleep apnea.
- Speech: Proper jaw alignment can significantly improve speech clarity.
- Eating: A corrected bite allows for more efficient chewing and digestion.
For multiple the improved quality of life stemming from these functional improvements is the most significant benefit.
Myth #3: "It's too expensive to afford."
Reality: The cost of orthognathic surgery can be a worry but different options can make it more convenient.
- Insurance Coverage: If the surgery is deemed medically necessary (e.g. to address breathing problems severe bite problems impacting function) medical insurance is more probably to cover a significant portion of the cost. Thorough documentation from your orthodontist and oral surgeon is crucial. However insurance often doesn’t cover the full cost especially for the orthodontic treatment before and after surgery.
- Financing Options: Many clinics offer flexible payment plans and third-party medical financing companies like CareCredit or LendingClub can help spread out the cost with low monthly payments.
Affordable Chiropractic Service: While not directly covering the surgery itself exploring affordable chiropractic service in Surrey can be beneficial for managing any related musculoskeletal discomfort or stress throughout your treatment journey. Some chiropractic clinics offer competitive fees and may have options for direct billing with extended health insurance.
